Azula was the princess of the Fire Nation and a Firebending prodigy. She was the daughter of Fire Lord Ozai and Princess Ursa, and younger sister of her archnemesis Fire Lord Zuko. Azula had always been the favoured child of Fire Lord Ozai and was strongly resented by Zuko. She was manipulating, a liar and sadistic. Like her father, she ruled through fear and even instilled fear in her closest companions Mai and Ty Lee.

After being betrayed by her closest companions, Azula became less controlled of her actions and her mind. She began to have numerable hallucinations of her missing mother Ursa. Her defeat at the hands of Katara and Zuko led to her anticipated mental breakdown. After the Hundred Year War, Azula was placed in a mental health facility.
