Although blind, Toph was a powerful and highly skilled Earthbender who using seismic sense discovered Metalbending. She proclaimed herself as the best Earthbender in the world, and it is inarguable that she was. She also trained Avatar Aang in Earthbending.
After the Hundred Year War Toph Beifong established the Beifong Metalbending Academy located on a hill outside Yu Dao in the Earth Kingdom.
