The Fire Nation is one of the world’s largest nations and is the most secretive. During the Hundred Year War, the leaders of the Fire Nation were solely focused on destroying the other nations and having full domination over the world. The citizens of the Fire Nation live under the oppressive rule of the Fire Lord, and there are some who do not believe in the world-domination cause, but must abide anyhow.

The insignia of the Fire Nation is an ornate black flame with three points at the top and a curved bottom. The symbol is mainly found on flags and uniforms and to mark Fire Nation territories.

Fire Nation Leaders
The authoritarian Fire Lord governs the Fire Nation under an absolute monarchy. He is the most powerful Firebender and one is to always, abide by his will. The eldest son of the Fire Nation Royal Family becomes the heir to the title of Fire Lord. However, Fire Lord Ozai – the second-eldest son – schemed against his father, Fire Lord Azulon and his older brother, Iroh, to declare the throne for himself.
Fire Lord Sozin
Fire Lord Sozin began the war prior to the series and was focused on creating a world where Fire exists as the dominant element, and no nation could challenge his rule. Fire Lord Sozin was a friend to Avatar Roku, but when Roku died, Sozin increased his power and drew an immense amount of energy from a passing comet. With the knowledge of the Avatar being reborn into the Air Nomads, Sozin attack the Air Nation first and annihilated their existence (with the exception of Aang). He later began to invade the Water Tribes and the Earth Kingdom. After fighting the war for decades, Sozin died before his dream had come to fruition. His destructive plan is being carried out by his descendants.
Fire Lord Ozai
The grandson of Fire Lord Sozin and father to Princess Azula and Prince Zuko, Fire Lord Ozai, carried out Sozin’s quest for world domination and introduced the idea of creating a new title for himself: the Phoenix King (the supreme ruler of the entire Avatar world). He ruled through fear and intimidation, but even still, his Phoenix King plans never came to pass. After the Hundred Year War, Fire Lord Ozai was imprisoned in the Fire Nation’s Prison Tower.
Fire Lord Zuko
The great-grandson of Fire Lord Sozin and Avatar Roku and son of Fire Lord Ozai, Fire Lord Zuko began his reign after the Hundred Year War and focused on restoring peace and balance to the world. He along with Avatar Aang began the Harmony Restoration Movement (100 ASC) and later established Republic City (the capital of the United Republic of Nations). The Promise graphic novel trilogy shows Zuko struggling, to not, backslide during his reign.
Season
The Fire Nation’s dominant season is summer. Most Firebenders are born during this time.
