Korra is a seventeen-year-old tomboy Waterbender from the Southern Water Tribe with a vibrant personality. She is Aang’s descendant in the Avatar lineage and loves the fact that she is the Avatar. Korra is confident and headstrong and takes on anything that is thrown her way.

At the start of the series, Korra had already mastered water, earth and fire, but had yet to master air. In order to master Airbending, Korra had to be in tune with her spiritual side. However, her impatience and belief that being a strong bender was all one needed to be an excellent Avatar prevented her from ever connecting with her spiritual side and more importantly, Aang.

After revealing Amon, putting a stop to the Anti-bending Revolt and having her bending powers stripped from her, Korra reached her lowest point. It was at that point when she finally made a connection to her predecessor Aang and finally activated the Avatar State.
